I listen to contemporary christian music primarily, but I enjoy good rock and roll as well as classical. I enjoy many popular christian artists such as Steven Curtis Chapman, Bryan Duncan, Bob Carlisle, Wayne Watson, Point of Grace, Michael English, Steve Green, etc. I have played in a couple of bands and as result, I have a small library of sequences - about 300 in total - about 40 are contemporary christian songs. I am limited as to how many I can offer here, but if you are looking for something in particular, send me some comments and I'll see if I have it.

New! Real Audio Sample File!

I was in a group many years ago called "The Agape Brothers" with 4 very talented guys. I played the keyboard, 3 of the other guys played guitar and we all sang. We assembled 10 original songs, made a demo tape and presented it to a studio in Nashville. Well, nothing happened by way of a record deal, but we did create a keep-sake. I have just converted one of my originals to a Real Audio file. This is truely a gift from God to me. It is a simple song, but one that continues to minister to me years after He gave it to me. I hope it can do the same for you. You will need to download the Real Player (it's free) to hear the song. When you have the player, you can listen to Step Out On The Water.

I was playing around with my incredible sequencer/audio program (Cakewalk 8.0) and threw down 4 tracks to an old song called I've Been With Jesus. Let me know if you like it!

What is Contemporary Christian music?

Contemporary Christian music is simply songs that have a theme reflecting spiritual truths from the Bible with a more progressive and current sound than you might hear in your average church service on Sunday morning. This kind of music is not limited to any one style. Country, Rhythm & Blues, Rap, Thrash, Folk, Easy Listening, Gospel – all these styles and more are available from various artists. If you want to know more about this industry, check out the CCM Online homepage.

I feel compelled to display a response I received recently to the paragraph above. I know this attitude lurks among many out there, unfortunately. I am not displaying this to ridicule this unnamed individual, but rather to further define this thing called CCM. My response to this person is below the comment.

Dear Sir,
I am a big fan of contemporary christian music, as long as it is CHRISTIAN music. I am here to tell you that there is no such thing as Christian rap, rock, or alternative music. The Bible says that there should be separation between holy and unholiness, that we should be different from the world in word and deed. Some of the music on this list is absolute and complete garbage that Satan will use to deceive people and lead them away from Christ, instead of honoring Christ. I as iterated earlier, I am big fan of contemporary christian music like 4HIM, Point of Grace, Ray Boltz, and many others, but there must be a difference in the music.

And now my response:

<contributor>,
It is sad that you are so narrow minded. You see, there really is no such thing as "christian" music. In fact, there is no such thing as "secular" music either. Music is just that - M-U-S-I-C. It is the lyrics that classify a song as being christian. Does a song have to proclaim the blood of Christ in order for it to pass your test? Is the song "Butterfly Kisses" absolute and complete garbage that Satan will use to decieve people? Rather, this song speaks of a father's love for his little girl - a true love who's source can only be grounded in the love of Christ.

You see, we are all different, with different needs. That's exactly how God created us. What ministers to you may bore me to tears and vice versa. You can see countless examples in scripture of God using unique methods to minister to people with specific needs. I praise God for the diversity we find in CCM. There are those to whom DC Talk could minister who wouldn't give Steve Green a second listen.

I hope you receive these words in the love in which they were given. As Paul stated, "Even as I please all [men] in all [things], not seeking mine own profit, but the [profit] of many, that they may be saved." KJV, we should use whatever method works to bring the gospel to those who need it. Please try not to be so critical of your brothers and sisters in Christ who are trying to minister to a lost world through the tools that God has given them.
